UnityPoint Health Manager Clinical-Occupational Health in West Des Moines, Iowa

Plans, directs, facilitates, and evaluates clinical nursing service/practice for all UPHDM Occupational Medicine clinics and on-site client clinic services. Schedules and recruits staff to meet clinic volume demands as needed to insure a highly motivated coordinated staff, clinical processes and work flow to deliver high quality, occupational medicine care and services to our patients and clients. Provide services with expertise and flexibility to meet and exceed the changing needs of clients and patients.   • Coordinates all drug testing services to include DOT and NON-DOT collections; consortium services and E-screen services and functions.

  • Assures efficient delivery of quality patient care in all clinics.

  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, termination, disciplinary action, new employee orientation, annual competency compliance, training and personal performance development and evaluation of all clinical staff.

  • Coordinates clinical staff schedule to provide consistent, professional clinical staff to meet client demand and volumes daily.

  • Maintain and track current and applicable licensure for all clinical staff including dept. required certification and recertification for DOT drug/alcohol collections, PFT and audiogram testing.

  • Monitor duties assigned and performance of clinical staff to ensure compliance, productivity and customer service directives are met daily.

  • Works cooperatively with clients, patients, staff, providers, department management team, UPHDM departments and outside agencies as appropriate.

  • Staffs in clinics to cover clinical staff when absent as needed.

  • Always strives for highest level of quality of care at a cost-effective level.

  • Delegates and provides direction for clinical staff and holds them accountable for their delivery patient care.

  • Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

  • Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DOT, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare for occupational medicine.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree required; Masters preferred.

  • Completion of basic IHDM management course within one year.


  • Minimum of three years clinic nursing experience required with minimum of two years clinical management/ supervisory experience preferred.


  • Current Iowa License to practice as a Registered Nurse.

  • Valid driver’s license to travel between clinics to manage staff effectively.
