Position Purpose:

Works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and compatible with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives. Primary Responsibilities include developing and implementing care and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocols/guidelines; managing resources in a cost-effective manner, participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

What you will Do:

  • Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk. Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyses/interprets data based on evidence-based standards.

  • Maintains productivity standards and practices effective time management and prioritizing of tasks.

  • Assists in development of new/existing programs and services.

  • Maintains dietetic registration, state credentialing, and continuing education requirements.

  • Assists in developing and revising patient education materials, clinical forms, and protocols and practice standards. Assists in achieving compliance with TJC standards and other regulatory agency standards.

  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Hours/Schedule:

1.0 FTE; 80 hours per biweekly pay period; Typical hours 8am -4:30pm. Will require weekend and holidays on a rotating basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Dietetics or related field

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association within 6 months of hire and licensed by Iowa State Department of Health.

  • Mandatory Reporter

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, medical staff and physicians.

  • Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.

  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software.
