The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education (VPGE) is a dynamic and fast-paced team that delivers programs to Stanford’s 9,000+ graduate students and 2,400+ postdoctoral scholars. We work collaboratively across the university with schools and other vice provost areas to enhance the graduate educational experience. VPGE supports programs, administration, and service to the university community and graduate students in five portfolio areas: fellowships and funding, professional development, diversity and inclusion, interdisciplinary learning, and academic guidance.

VPGE is looking for a Digital Media Specialist to join our team in supporting marketing and technology projects. Reporting to the Director of Technology and Communication, you will develop your strengths and enjoy using your digital media skills to enhance VPGE’s programs. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on projects and is a collaborative team member.

In support of the university’s flexible work initiative, this position may be eligible to be “hybrid,” working both from home and the Stanford main campus.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the VPGE communication teams to develop a strategic digital plan, create and curate website content, and manage media projects.

  • Maintain content and support technical issues on the VPGE website

  • Create tutorial videos and tech training for VPGE and Stanford staff.

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot on a variety of equipment including but not limited to laptops, video cameras, video projection, video conferencing, photography, and digital audio recording.

  • Coordinate filming schedule and project timeline for video projects, design graphics for web videos, and edit video content on platforms such as Youtube, Website, Canvas, and Twitter.

  • Occasionally work on weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible shifts.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and digital media control software.

  • Knowledge in production techniques including videography and file delivery.

  • Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound, and editing.

  • Understanding of online video environment and online distribution.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to colleagues.

  • Effective time management skills.

In addition, preferred requirements include:

  • Knowledge of Drupal and HTML.

  • Experience with Canvas.

  • Experience with Final Cut Pro or similar software.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
