What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served, in accordance with MercyOne standards.

  • Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to clinic procedures.

  • Produces quality radiographs by selecting the proper equipment, calibration and technique, by insuring proper development and preparation for viewing by physician.

  • Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills.

  • Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.

  • Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the department.

  • Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patients and equipment.

  • Checks requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions; consults with Radiologist or other physician as necessary.

  • Confirms patient identification and introduces self to patients.

  • Describes procedure to patient and/or family members.

  • Prepares and maintains patients x-ray file. Retrieves patient films, maintains film file area and patients files.

  • Retrieves and calls reports to physician offices upon request.

  • Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures and administers first aid/CPR as needed.

  • Uses effective communication principles to coordinate care with other health care providers.

  • Actively participates in clinic meetings, committees, conferences, and in-services.

  • Recognizes and communicates issues/occurrences utilizing established lines of authority, and assists in identifying ways to resolve variances or unacceptable outcomes.

  • Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in improving patient safety and reducing risk to patients. Complies with Safety and Infection Control & Procedure.

  • Employee may periodically be requested to drive.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we are looking for:

Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible and registered by the state. Prior radiologyexperience preferred. Maintains certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support. Able to communicate effectively with customers and all members of the health care team. Able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change. May be requested to travel within the Siouxland region. When assigned to travel, a valid drivers license and proof of insurance will be submitted to manager prior to travel. Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. Healthstream, internet, etc.) Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of MercyOne and Trinity Health.
