Meridian Clinical Research Nursing Assistant for career in Clinical Research in Sioux City, Iowa

Meridian is looking for a motivated Nursing Assistant to begin a career in Clinical Research! This position will be an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinators (ACRC,) who help accurately and efficiently conduct clinical trial operations. ACRCs may also lead clinical trials with lower subject enrollment volumes while assisting higher enrolling studies alongside a lead CRC. Meridian ACRCs are dependable and willing to accept growing responsibilities. While learning to function as a CRC through continuing on the job training, ACRCs perform the duties listed below:


Conduct Patient Visits

• Read and be familiar with all aspects of germane study protocols.

• Assist lead CRCs in conducting high volume investigational trials.

• Recruit, consent, and coordinate subjects in the trial according to the study protocol.

• Perform blood draws and complete the processing/shipment of blood samples.

• Be flexible and anticipate time frames to accommodate subjects, monitors, and overtime hours during high-enrolling study periods.

• Decipher medical histories and laboratory results.

EDC Completion

• Collect, analyze, enter, and maintain records and statistics for study subjects.

• Assist with electronic data capture (EDC) completion.

Support Enrollment and Retention

• Recruit, consent, and coordinate subjects in the trial according to the study protocol.

Support Trial Communication

• Assist with regulatory duties and the submission of regulatory/study start-up documentation (to the Sponsor, IRB, CRA, etc.).

• Assist with monitoring visits.

• Assist with Sponsor and IRB audits as needed.

• Assist with quality assurance checks for other CRCs concerning source documentation, regulatory documents, study logs, etc.

• Strive to learn from senior team members while offering the team new ideas and methods.


  • Maintain current training, or certification as applicable, for CITI Training (every two years), IATA Certification/Re-certification (every two years), and yearly SOPs.

  • Strong time management skills to complete all deliverables within required timelines.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to details.

  • Computer proficiency.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous tasks and projects.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Regular and punctual attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required in this position (less than 2 weeks per year)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

  • Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly.

  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
