Description:
Position Purpose:
Performance of adult and pediatric echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echoes (TEE), stress echo and other noninvasive cardiovascular testing such as occasional EKG and Holter monitors.
What you will Do:
Performs adult and pediatric transthoracic, transesophageal, stress and contrast echocardiograms.
Provides mobile cardiovascular sonography services to outreach sites.
Receives and records telephone requests for service and schedules patients for diagnostic studies.
Performs all office related duties including chart preparation, collection of patient information, and recording of daily charges. Uses various types of computers and keyboards.
Utilizes the Medical Center's Electronic Medical Record for documentation and charging.
Utilizes the Cardiac PACS for documentation and image storage of Cardiovascular Studies.
Assists students and cardiology fellows, when need, by providing an environment for learning and sharing professional knowledge and guidance
Hours/Schedule:
PRN; as needed basis. Scheduled shifts are (8) hours and day shift with variable start times. May be asked to cover on the weekends as schedule allows.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular sonography program, CAAHEP accreditation preferred.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonographer with active registration thru American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
In the event of colleague being a new graduate, colleague must be registered within 12 months of graduation per Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) guidelines.
Credentialing through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is acceptable if applicant can demonstrate thorough knowledge and competence of cardiac pathology.
At least two years of full-time employment in adult cardiovascular sonography preferred. No previous work experience required if student is a graduate of an accredited cardiac sonography program.
Must be able to work comfortably with patients of all ages.
Must provide proof of Basic Life Support ( BLS Provider -American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
