Trinity Health Anesthesia Aide - Surgery - Full Time - Days in Mason City, Iowa

Description:

Position Purpose:

The anesthesia aide will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and supplies for surgical cases requiring anesthesia.

What you will Do:

  • Assists in care of the anesthesia environment and equipment to ensure patient and staff safety.

  • Assembles and cleans equipment as appropriate to procedure and age of patient.

  • Reports any equipment malfunctions and unusual incidents to the director and/or the medical director, or anesthesia provider in the room, and call Bio Med.

  • Orders and restocks expended supplies on a STAT and routine basis.

  • Performs routine clerical duties.

  • Assists anesthesia providers in the performance of delegated anesthesia related functions.

  • Inputs/verifies patient charges daily.

  • Serves as steward of hospital resources.

  • Demonstrates customer service concepts by anticipating the equipment and materials needs of the anesthesia providers.

  • Serves or supports process improvement teams, which influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes and financial stability.

  • Adapts positively to the ever-changing health care environment by supporting technology and process changes, willing to learn new things, is open to change and maintain a calm, positive manner under stressful conditions.

  • Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.

  • Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Hours:

Position hours would be 9a-5:30pm. They would be cross trained to the OR and provide call coverage in the Surgical Aide rotation. Call on weekends, Holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required.

  • Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.

  • Completion of aide certification or equivalent.
