POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position provides leadership within the Lab department under the direction of the Lab Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of one of the following programs: Certified Laboratory Technician, Medical or Clinical Laboratory Technician, Medical or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical or Clinical Laboratory Technology

• Current certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists

• Valid Iowa Driver’s License required

• BLS Certification

• Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter training

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports to the Lab Manager

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Assists as a resource to current Laboratory staff

• Assists with the selection, use, maintenance, repair of department equipment

• Serves as a resource to IT and Laboratory staff regarding the operation, facilitation, and maintenance of the Laboratory Information System

• Assists with employee orientation

• Quality management and stats

• Daily operations of lab

• Staff scheduling

• Ordering supplies

• Coordinates competency and proficiency tests

• Assists Lab Manager with other tasks as delegated

• Operates routinely as bench tech
