Job Title: Junior High Head Girls Baseketball Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director
Qualifications: Coaching endorsement
Job Goal: To provide leadership, supervision, and organization of a specific athletic activity, and to carry out the objectives of the total athletic program. To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Year-Round Responsibilities

``` 1. Keep abreast of new ideas and techniques in assigned sports field. 2. Be knowledgeable of rules, regulations, and changes that occur. 3. If interested in professional organizations such as the State Coaches Association, join and be as active as necessary. 4. Responsible for general upkeep, protection, and storage of equipment. 5. Keep the Athletic Director informed of developments/needs in program. 6. Build good sportsmanship and develop positive public relations in the school and community. 7. Establish fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques either developed by personal knowledge or help from the varsity head coach. 8. Attend conferences and clinics as needed. 9. Develop programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies. 10. Develop a written scope and sequence of sport with the skills and knowledge that is best for the athlete or given by the head varsity coach. 11. Stay abreast of health issues, first aid, and drug abuse.

``` 1. Arrange for the systematic issuance of school equipment. 2. Work with athletic director to make sure all athletes have physicals, forms, and grades to have eligibility and clearance for competition. 3. Have a parent meeting to clarify any teams' goals/objectives, practice and game schedules, team rules, individual and parental expectations, and basic philosophy in your area if needed and/or instructed by the athletic director. 4. Select and instruct team managers on proper care of equipment, facilities, and other assigned duties as needed. 5. Update/revise your program's curriculum and/or handbook as needed.
III. During Season Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility of constant care of equipment and facilities.
- Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis that align with local and state policies.
- Emphasize safety precautions while using accepted training/conditioning and injury procedures during practices and games.
- Instruct players on the rules, rule changes, and new ideas and techniques.
- Supervise dressing rooms for proper use and clean up.
- Lock-up facilities at the close of practice especially if they are the last group in the building.
- Accompanies student-athletes to and from all contests.
- Make sure all athletes are accounted for on away trips.
- Keep all statistics up-to-date.
- Responsible for keeping individual and team statistics of your sport.
- Attend any requested meetings by parents and/or Athletic Director.

Have an inventory list of all equipment to give to the athletic director as needed. 2. Assist in the process of cleaning and storing of all equipment as directed by the athletic director. 3. Have an evaluation meeting with the athletic director and/or principal as needed. 4. Recommend to the athletic director any improvements of facilities/equipment. 5. Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and submit a copy to the athletic director as need d.

``` 1. Teach fundamentals of sport. 2. Curriculum shows good understanding of activity with appropriate skill and knowledge expectations for that grade level. 3. Practice plans are completed with thought and program appropriateness. Good utilization of practice time. 4. Good utilization of scouting, technique, and filming as needed. 5. Game plans show thought and proper preparation. 6. Good game or meet management and conduct. 7. Teams are competitive with consistent success and/or effort. 8. Athletes show growth in understanding and mastery of sport. 9. Build confidence in all players. Keep criticism to a minimum, yet analyze or correct player's mistakes. 10. Utilize talent of individuals in best interests of team. Adapt system to fit players' abilities. May use the varsity head coaches system as needed or instructed. 11. Team is well conditioned and healthy. 12. Motivate athletes professionally and be patient and fair in working with them.
Terms of Employment: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board.
Assessment: This job description serves a general guideline for our coaches. There may be another evaluation tool used but this template serves as the duties and characteristics needed in all coaching positions. The athletic director and/or the principal may be involved in the evaluation of junior high coaches.
