UnityPoint Health Office Assistant-Child Protection Center in Hiawatha, Iowa

The Office Assistant plays an integral role on the Child Protection Center (CPC) team. Conducts secretarial and clerical duties that support patients/families, multi-disciplinary team members (MDT), and staff at the CPC. Uses excellent communication and customer service skills that ensure a positive patient experience.

Customer Service

  • Interacts with patients and family members in a positive, friendly manner that enhances their experience at the Child Protection Center.

  • Maintains/develops professional relationships with community partners in person, over the phone, and via email correspondence.

  • Provides timely and appropriate information to parents/caregivers/community partners/others while adhering to confidentiality guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Administrative/Clerical Support

  • Provides clerical support for all front desk functions of the department.

  • Responds to phone calls, takes referrals, and schedules appointments in a manner that promotes efficient patient care.

  • Engages in practices that include accurately registering patients and submitting charges for services in a prompt manner.

  • Provides lobby oversight and watches children as needed.

  • Provides clerical support to the Safe Sleep program

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Customer service, clerical, and secretarial experience required. Experience working in a medical environment with Epic is preferred.
