UnityPoint Health Nurse Practitioner-Wound Care in Hiawatha, Iowa
Works in collaboration with physicians to assess the physical needs of patients. The Nurse Practitioner manages a caseload of patients with consultation, collaboration, and general supervision from a physician. Utilizing the extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physiology acquired, the NP exercises independent judgments in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of certain delegated medical processes and procedures. NPs are additionally involved in education, research, and leadership at various levels.

Service
Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (eg: Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or clinical administrative staff.
Consult with physicians concerning patient evaluation. Instruct patients and families and answer questions.
Initiate requests for consultations and referrals.
Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and documentation for administrative purposes and reimbursement for services.
Comply with established nursing standards and emergency department protocols. Implement and maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals
Financial
Makes financially sound decisions with use of supplies and care with patients
Works scheduled hours as contracted
Master of Science in Nursing with completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioner including preceptorship
Iowa Nurse Practitioner License
Meet qualifications to be a member of active Medical Staff refer to Medical Staff credentialing & privileging guidelines
Good communication skills with all members of the team
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
