Prime Healthcare Pharmacy Operations Coordinator/Database Technician - GCH in Garden City, Michigan

Provides support and helps coordinate daily activities within the department. Makes necessary changes to Pharmacy database of medications within the hospital information systems (Soarian Financials and Siemens Pharmacy) and the Automated Drug Dispensing Devices (such as Omnicell, Pyxis, Talyst, etc) in order to ensure appropriate inventory is available on hand and correct charges occur. Promotes safe use of medications and Automated Dispensing Devices throughout the hospital. Ensures accuracy of drug compounding and re-packaging systems. Maintains high level of competence by staying abreast of technological practice changes pertaining to medications. Provides pharmaceutical care for the following age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Assures that all legal and regulatory criteria for medication compounding, repackaging and dispensing are met. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Pharmaceutical Services.


Education and Work Experience

  • 3 years hospital pharmacy technician experience, including prior experience with automated drug dispensing devices and re-packaging system.

  • Previous hospital pharmacy computer system experience required.

  • Michigan Pharmacy Technician License required at hire/transfer or within 6 months of hire/transfer into position.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • BS/BA degree in healthcare related field preferred.

  • Experience with spreadsheets and word processing programs is required.
