Department of Defense Education Activity Administrative Officer in Fort Knox, Kentucky

Summary About the Position: This position is located at Van Voorhis Elementary School, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown. It is adjacent to the United States Bullion Depository, which is used to house a large portion of the United States' official gold reserves. Responsibilities Manage manpower support and assures full coordination with Headquarters. Oversees civilian personnel actions, advise Principal on filling positions. Administer student registration, attendance, records, and other processes; and work directly with the Student Meal Program. Perform property management and accountability and supply management. Direct the preparation of reports for customers, headquarters, or school management. Manage the provision of other management analysis services, to include space management, productivity, facilities, repairs. Plan, manage, and direct budget formulation, analysis, and execution. Incumbent will serve as first line supervisor. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing an annual budget, utilizing information systems to gather data and advising employees on work and administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as business administration or public administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years. This position is obligated. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights based on active military service, compensable injury or disability when fully recovered, return rights based on having served an overseas tour(s), and may also cover employees who have been on extended leave without pay under certain circumstances. During the obligation period, the position may be filled on a temporary or permanent basis.
