ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An extremely high responsibility is required in the performance of MR.
Produces MR images on patients using established techniques and procedures and assists physicians in establishing procedure protocols.
Assists in the coordinating and scheduling of patients and procedures by assuring correct physician order and insurance pre-authorization number.
Directs MR teaching on the patient level of obtaining an informed consent from patient and/or patient’s family.
Records medical history pertinent to MR and prepares patient for MR exam.
Administers IV contrast media under the supervision of a physician.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned by Lead MR Technologist, Clinical Supervisor or Manager.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Documents care consistent with documentation guidelines.
Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
Participates in department operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of the Department and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
Participation in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality assurance activities, department meetings and other related activities.
Demonstrates positive customer relations skills.
Provides a variety of services related to patient transportation and daily department cleaning.
Provides environmental duties as assigned.
Exhibits knowledge of operation of Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and electronic medical record (EMR).
Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Licensure:
- Accredited national certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic X-ray. State of Iowa License as a Radiographer.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years Radiologic Technologist and/or MRI experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oral; organizational and time management skills; basic computer skills; angiography skills.
Certification/Course:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification, refer to Job Description Addendum.
MR certification from the ARRT within 12 months of start date.
