Description:

Repeatable pattern working 7-hour [day] shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., also includes a set rotation to work every-third weekend and rotational holidays.

Under general supervision, greets outpatients, schedules examinations, provides information regarding procedures, and provides film tracking for patient files. Also transport patients via wheelchair or cart from their hospital room to the X-ray department and back for their exams. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.

What you will do:

  • Greets patients and gives them instructions regarding their exam and communicates with all medical staff regarding their patient’s reports and exams. The age of the patients served range from infants through geriatrics.

  • Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers prior to transport.

  • Transports patients to and from Radiology utilizing proper lifting techniques and transfers device as needed pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics.

  • Receives incoming telephone calls and routes to the appropriate individual.

  • Performs office procedures and duties within the Radiology Department by scheduling patients for examinations and processing patient orders.

  • Maintains an effective film tracking system.

  • Assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations under the direct supervision of a registered technologist.

  • Maintains daily supplies in assigned work area and recommends reordering of items.

  • Demonstrates activities to impact change within the department and with other departments.

  • Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with hospital guests and clients.

  • Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development.

  • Assists with routine care and maintenance of radiology equipment by ensuring that carts and wheelchairs are in good working order and ensuring that cylinders have an adequate amount of oxygen.

  • Demonstrates a customer focused/professional behavior at all times.

  • Assists the department as needed through the direction of the Director, Quality Control Coordinator, and/or self-empowerment.

What we are looking for:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Six months to 1-year experience required.

  • Prefer experience with a computer and printer.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates the ability to effectively work with staff, other hospital employees, and guests in a helpful, courteous manner.

  • Thorough understanding of departmental operations.

  • Average computer literacy and applications.

  • Minimum typing skills required.

  • Must be certified in basic life support.

  • Must have basic knowledge of radiation safety standards.

  • Must have the ability to follow directions and plan day-to-day activities.

  • Must access patient condition as it related to the scheduled radiology procedure.
