Heska Technician I, II or III, Sterile Fill in Des Moines, Iowa

The Sterile Fill Technician position works under the general supervision of the Sterile Fill supervisor to carry out departmental responsibilities in the Sterile Fill and Capping department. Duties include the primary filling, lypophilization and/or capping of a variety of biological products, equipment and component preparation, and the daily sanitization and sterilization. This position requires the ability to effectively multi-task and follow standard operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Capping and Bottling Product:

  • Fills, freeze dries, and caps a variety of biological products into various containers

  • Responsible for labeling all bottles with correct product name/information

  • Adheres to daily production schedule of Sterile Fill department

Sterile Fill Component Preparation:

  • Responsible for the preparation of filling equipment components

  • Prepares glass and plastic bottles, stoppers, bottling equipment and tools for sterilization

Cleaning, Sanitizing and Sterilizing all equipment fo

  • Responsible for maintaining the daily and weekly cleaning schedule of Sterile Fill department

  • Performs the cleaning and sanitization of all bottling equipment and tools used by the department

  • Performs cleaning and sanitization of all rooms, coolers, hallways, and freeze dryers used by the department

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow all standard operating procedures.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Beginner ability with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Software and E-mail.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention-to-detail

  • Proficient in oral and written communications, both internally and externally

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs repeatedly

  • Pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds

  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching; walking; standing for extended periods of time

  • Performing repetitive motions for extended periods of time

  • Must wear personal safety protection as required including hair, eye and foot protection

  • Good hand-eye coordination including good hand dexterity

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, some areas can be quite loud requiring hearing protection.

  • The work environment may include; wet conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and uncomfortable heat.
