GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned by the physician or RN. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific. Serves the population from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

· Assists O.R. staff in a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, positioning and moving patients, locating, moving and set-up of equipment and supplies, preparing rooms, and opening sterile supplies.

· Assist with such tasks as patient transport when appropriate.

· Orders and ensures availability of supplies as assigned.

· Perform assigned tasks to ensure a clean and orderly environment throughout the department.

· Communicate appropriately with staff, physicians, patients and families.

· Obtains and returns x-rays.

· Delivers specimens to Lab; obtains blood from Blood Bank.

· Complies with OSHA/JCAHO and other guidelines and policies.

· Sets up trauma room

· Performs sterilization & monitoring tests.

· Pulls and utilizes preference cards.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Previous experience in medical setting preferred.

· Ability to read, write and speak English language.

· Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. The acceptable credentialing body is the American Heart Association

· Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
