Responsibilities - What You Will Do:
How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!
Daily greenhouse plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting and seed handling.
Punch or cut and store small samples of plant tissue and delivery for laboratory analysis. Carefully maintain sample identity for thousands of samples at a time while maintaining proper storage conditions.
Assist with experiments, collect data and maintain records.
Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material, destroying waste, cleaning pots/containers, and cleaning and sanitizing rooms.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements - Who You Are:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
You have a high school diploma/GED.
You always pay close attention to detail and understand that it is essential to follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols.
You have excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, possess a positive attitude and work well independently as well as in a team with minimal supervision.
You have basic computer skills including MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and the ability to gain competency with internally-developed research software.
You are willing and able to stand/sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30 lbs., tolerate hours of repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round.
You are willing and able to work a primarily Monday through Friday day schedule and a rotating weekend schedule as needed to support business needs.
Preferences - It Would Be Great If You Have:
Previous experience with greenhouse operations and plant care.
Interest in agronomic research.
1 year of related education and/or experience in a greenhouse plant care, agronomy, horticulture, gardening, biology research or other relevant discipline.
