Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Visiting Scientist to serve as an integral member of a team focused on implementing single-cell and spatial transcriptomics technologies and applying those technologies to novel research towards the discovery of genetic and epigenetic factors driving plant tissue and cell's responses to various internal and external inducers. The role will require strong technical skills, an ability to communicate with other scientists to accomplish objectives and deliver on various research projects. The position will be part of the Genome Sciences group, located in Johnston, IA, in the Des Moines metro area.
The ideal candidate will have strong molecular biology skills, including a strong knowledge of single-cell genomics-based applications. The postdoctoral scientist will lead efforts in implementing single-cell and spatial technologies and in conducting research to determine best outcomes and methodologies for various crop-related projects of interests. The postdoctoral scientist will be encouraged to communicate research outcomes through publication in peer-reviewed journals, participation in scientific community working groups, and presentations at key scientific conferences. Responsibilities: How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!
Lead testing and implementation of preferred single-cell and single-nuclei epigenomics (e.g., ATAC-Seq) and transcriptomics (e.g., RNA-Seq) technologies in plants and insects
Lead molecular, single-cell/single-nuclei and spatial transcriptomics studies, in collaboration with Genome Sciences team and Corteva scientists, to better understand impact of specific inducers on cell-specific gene expression and regulation
Support Corteva discovery pipeline by assisting scientists with their single-cell and spatial needs and generating single-cell and spatial data on an as-needed basis
Collaborate with proteomics and metabolomics scientists for the development of a “multi-omics” analysis pipeline
Identify, evaluate, and implement new methods and protocols aiming to improve lab processes and outcomes
Train team members as appropriate
Maintain careful lab records, including notebooks, micrographs, and all electronic files.
Proactively uphold Corteva's core values and compliance with best laboratory practices.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATION:
Requirements: What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
Ph.D. in plant biology, genomics, molecular biology, or related scientific field
Demonstrated experience in single cell/protoplast/nuclei manipulation in plant, molecular biology, and functional genomics
Knowledge of plant cellular biology and bioinformatics (R, Python…), along with previous exposure to tissue preparation and microscopy would be a plus
Demonstrated ability for protocol testing and development, along with experiment planning, execution, and troubleshooting
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a collaborative team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to disseminate complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner to a variety of audiences
