Description:

Shift Hours: Evening

  • Attends didactic and clinical training sessions as outlined in the Certified Pharmacy Technician course curriculum. Adheres to attendance requirements.

  • Receives training in the inpatient, outpatient, and medication history pharmacy departments and observes other specialized pharmacy technician duties

  • Prepares patient medication orders in outpatient and inpatient pharmacy settings - Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.

  • Charges and credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.

  • Utilizes and restocks automated medication dispensing machines (robot, acudose, and pyxis)

  • Checks medication expiration dates and completes assigned unit inspections

  • Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.

  • Answers telephone and processes requests according to procedures.

  • Accurately and efficiently waits on patients at the POS register and handles sales transactions in the outpatient pharmacy

  • Obtains and records initial medication histories for patients upon admission

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Registered or eligible to register as pharmacy-technician-in-training with the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners within 30 days of hire date

  • Complete Mandatory Reporter training within 30 days of hire date
