Younker 7 is a 22-bed general medicine floor with a diverse patient population that provides many learning opportunities. We collaborate closely with resident physicians to pilot projects that positively impact patient care. Leadership encourages nurses by promoting autotomy through critical thinking and the use of nursing clinical judgement. UnityPoint Health is embarking on an exciting and innovative care delivery model. Our new Collaborative Care Model (CCM) enables all members of the multidisciplinary care team to practice at the top of their scope – leveraging your unique skills, training, and strengths.
As a Patient Care Tech (PCT) in this care model, you will provide care for a specified group of patients. With the support of an RN and other team members of the care group, you will perform tasks or skills within your scope of practice, including but not limited to:
Provide safe and reliable patient centered care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
Complete vital signs, intake and output, glucose monitoring, and activities of daily living.
Set-up and maintain equipment on the unit and in patient rooms, as appropriate.
Promote mobility by assisting the patient with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
Support patient’s nutritional needs, may include feeding a patient.
Document in the electronic medical record.

PCTs will perform patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN. Provides and documents care including, but not limited to, activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support activities as directed by the RN.
Possess the ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.
Must be 18 years old or older.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 75 hour Certified Nursing Aid certification required.Indicate on your application which CNA certification you possess (75 hour, 120 hour or 150 hour). Only applications with this information indicated will be considered.
Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work.
