Kelly Services Laboratory Technician in Des Moines, Iowa

Kelly is hiring for a Laboratory Technician position with one of our clients in Des Moines, IA.

  • 1st shift

  • 5 months contract (May be extended or converted)

  • $18/hr

Job Description:

The main function of a lab technician is to support laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. The lab technician is expected to use general lab methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures

  • Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis

  • Perform sample preparation including but not limited to: aliquot samples, spike and trace samples, prepare reagents, bottle samples, prepare concentrations, separation, sonication, liquid rack set up

  • Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled

  • Prepare general lab paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and lab logbooks

  • Wash lab glassware to prepare for next days samples

  • Stock lab supplies

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 0-2 years experience required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills

  • Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time

  • Basic knowledge of the information and techniques for lab testing

  • Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
