Join us at Corteva Agriscience for an exciting and impactful 6-month internship designed to give broad based exposure to and contribute to the day-to-day activities of the Field Experimentation team through either grower facing on-farm research trials, or research center trials. You will work with a dynamic, best-in-class on-farm and small plot research program operating in the Farming Solutions & Digital sub-function of R&D. The internship will provide valuable experiences that can be applied to future full-time positions in industry or academia.
Position duration varies depending on location, but could be either the spring semester through summer or summer through fall semester for six months.
For the Windfall, Woodland, and Champaign locations you will assist in the day-to-day management of corn and soybean research trials located at these research stations. You will get the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the research center's activities, including environmental, sensing, and phenotypic data collection and data quality control processes, for an extended season and focus on agronomic and digital farming solutions to empower our research and growers.
Responsibilities - What You'll Do:
Assist in data collection including disease scoring, sensor installation and troubleshooting, and UAV data collection.
Collaborate with team members to aid in data collection using technology and proprietary data collection software and sensors.
Assist with plant sample collections.
Travel to other field locations as part of the data collection process.
Develop your own research project with presentations and demonstrations as requested.
Contribute to a safe and respectful work environment by following safety policies and procedures provided by the company.
Research Center Based Positions
Assist in data collection, including but not limited to biomass sampling, soil sampling, digital sensor installation, and sample collection.
Assist with the development and testing of novel protocols and phenotyping methodologies.

On-Farm Remote Positions
Work with area on-farm research team members to build relationships and establish trial locations with farmer-cooperators, Corteva sales representatives (Crop Health, Seeds, Biologicals) and agronomists.
Discuss complex trial protocols to ensure proper execution by farmers. Proactively communicate to anticipate questions and resolve challenges as they arise.
Assist in collection, curation, and creation of geospatial data including creating trial layouts, collecting and validating as-applied data, and capturing and organizing as-harvested data along with relevant meta data.
Maintain accurate records of trial execution and progress through strong cooperator communication and contribute to project progress tracking through accurate reporting and data entry to facilitate periodic geographic summaries to leadership team and other stakeholders.
May assist with local research center workload during peak data collection points.
For the statewide remote geographies, you will serve as an on-farm research agronomist intern, working closely with the commercial and R&D teams to engage farmers in farmer-participatory research trials. You will be involved in multiple phases of research including farmer recruitment, trial establishment, experimental design, treatment establishment, in-field data collection, and geospatial data management. The research conducted will be used to aid the Farming Solutions and Digital team in delivering digital decision support systems to support data-driven solutions for farmers.

Qualifications
Qualifications - What You'll Bring:
Priority will be given to students that are at least current sophomores at an accredited university. Interns can be undergraduate or graduate students.
Knowledge and experience in Agronomy, Agricultural Business or Sales, Plant Sciences, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding, Ag Education, Genetics, Biology, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of farming management and agronomic challenges; current seed and crop protection product knowledge.
Self-starter with attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Curious and critical thinker with a positive attitude and desire to learn.
Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and cloud data sharing.
U.S. driver's license and ability to travel. (For On-Farm Remote 50-80% in peak seasons possible - vehicle provided).
Ability to conduct in-field data collection in potentially hot, humid, or muddy conditions.
Preference will be given to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship.
Must be able to relocate to the geography of the R&D center or On-Farm Territory for the duration of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
FAA Part 107 UAS certificate, or willing to obtain.
Experience communicating with farmers in a 1:1 setting.
Experience with geospatial file creation and manipulation through ArcGIS or QGIS is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Some environments may require hearing, eye, and respiratory protection.
May require working compensated overtime during seasonal peak periods.
Must be willing to travel and stay overnight to assist with data collation and workload as needed.
