Primary Health Care Dental Clinic Administrator 1 - Engebretsen Dental Clinic in Des Moines, Iowa

As a Clinic Administrator I, you will be responsible for overall operations of assigned clinical unit(s), and for building a work culture that supports collaboration within the clinics to achieve optimal results. You will ensure schedule optimization balancing patient needs, resource allocation, and staff, provider, and patient satisfaction. You will be responsible for the financial management of the clinic, including overall expense management and revenue optimization. You will implement strategic initiatives to ensure organization and clinic short- and long-term success, and you will assume performance management responsibility for assigned staff, including indirect reporting relationships for providers, clinical staff and revenue cycle staff. You will also be responsible for ensuring the clinic is compliant with accreditation, regulatory, federal, and state rules, and regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.

    What You'll be Doing

  • Develops and maintains a culture within the clinic consistent with the organizational culture. Builds relationships within clinic to build trust, as well as patient, provider and employee satisfaction and engagement.

  • Monitors and proactively manages provider scheduling to ensure optimal patient access considering available human and physical resources. Assesses and maintains efficient clinic flow.

  • Manages financials of the clinic operations including purchasing, expenses, including personnel management and revenue generation.

  • Implements strategic initiatives including leading change management efforts, informing and educating all clinic employees to ensure effective implementation. Facilitates daily huddles and team communications.

  • Responsible for effective front-end operations including accurate registration through collection of required patient data and monetary collections & deposits. Collaborates with Patient Services Manager to improve access through accurate benefit assessments and assignments.

  • Manages assigned personnel; responsible for staffing, orientation, training, and performance management. Provides ongoing coaching, feedback and guidance to employees to aid in job and goal achievement. Point of contact for provider staff related to schedule and day to day questions. Collaborates with Medical Director(s) regarding provider performance.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HRSA, and The Joint Commission, as well as local, state and federal regulations. Ensures clinical quality measures are met and clinical &/or safety checklists are completed. Supports implementation of clinical best practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications You Need to Bring

    Required

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of 1 year ambulatory care experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on leadership/supervisory experience.

  • Supervisory skills with ability to effectively provide direction and feedback.

  • Strong detail orientation with high degree of accuracy.

  • Organization, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office applications specific to word processing and spreadsheets.

    Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Accounting, or related field. Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of community health center management may be substituted for advanced education with approval of COO and CHRO.

  • Community Health Center and Medical or Dental clinic management experience.

  • Experience in grant writing and/or grant management.

  • Written and verbal bilingual skills in English and Spanish.

  • Knowledge or accounts payable and/or cash collection.

  • Program development and marketing skills.

  • Licenses & Certifications: RN license; Dental Assistant Registration. Lean process improvement certification.

    Your experience and skills determine the pay we offer within our range. The hiring range for this position is typically $47,120 - $58,900 annually. Candidates with extensive work experience related to this position may be considered for additional compensation up to the pay grade maximum of $70,680 annually.
