Insight Global Data Scientist - Bioinformatic in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

In this role, you will take charge of crafting and refining bioinformatics workflows and pipelines, with a special emphasis on Eukaryote Genome Annotation to guarantee their precision, efficiency, and scalability. Your expertise in cloud technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, and container orchestration, will be pivotal for Cloud Integration, allowing you to deploy and oversee workflows within a cloud setting. The responsibility of Workflow Architecture entails devising modular and adaptable workflows that facilitate the smooth incorporation of analytical components and algorithms. For Pipeline Implementation, you will convert scientific needs into tangible solutions by developing data processing pipelines utilizing Python and workflow management tools. Quality Assurance requires you to work in tandem with colleagues to authenticate pipelines, ensuring their reproducibility and the veracity of outcomes. Lastly, Documentation involves chronicling the development processes, encompassing code, data flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures, all while adhering to the best practices of software development and DataOps. Compensation for this position will range from $70-75/hr with flexibility.

Skills and Requirements

· Python Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, including familiarity with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, NetworkX, and matplotlib.

  * Kubernetes Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS. Monitor and optimize cluster performance, resource utilization, and scalability. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes components.

  * AWS Integration: Leverage AWS services (such as EC2, EKS, S3, and RDS) to enhance Kubernetes deployments. Implement best practices for security, scalability, and cost optimization on AWS.

  * Data Pipeline Tools: Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g., Argo, Ray, AirFlow, Redun, or NextFlow).

 · Industrial-Scale Workflow Experience: Previous hands-on experience developing large-scale scientific data workflows is essential.

 · Container Knowledge: Working knowledge of container technologies (Docker, ContainerD, or Podman) and container orchestration.

· Collaborative Communication: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with excellent communication skills. A passion for learning new technologies is a plus. · Genomics Expertise: Specific experience analyzing large genomics datasets.

 · Bioinformatics Tools: Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and data types used in NextGen sequencing analysis.

 · Statistical Methods: Knowledge of statistical analysis methods commonly applied in bioinformatics (e.g., Gene Expression, ChIPSeq).

 · Genomics Expertise: Specific experience analyzing large genomics datasets.

 · Bioinformatics Tools: Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and data types used in NextGen sequencing analysis.

 · Statistical Methods: Knowledge of statistical analysis methods commonly applied in bioinformatics (e.g., Gene Expression, ChIPSeq).

· Additional Languages: Familiarity with programming languages such as C, Rust, Perl, R, Unix Shell, or others null
