Description:
Acts as a resource for technical personnel and responds to workplace questions and concerns.
· Assists with new employee orientation and training, instrument implementation, monitoring instrument maintenance, safety policy compliance, reviewing quality control, and auditing quality assurance activities including CAP survey submissions.
· Oversees education, procedure manuals, research and development, and advanced troubleshooting of instrumentation.
· Ensures appropriate workflow and adjusts work assignments as needed.
· Monitors and maintains work areas to provide efficient use of resources and obtain optimal turn around times.
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or in Chemistry, Biology or related field with one-year clinical internship in approved Medical Technology Program or approved alternate career path.
· Registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist or National Certification Agency (NCA) as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) as a medical technologist or categorical registration by either NCA or ASCP in one of the laboratory sciences is required.
· Four years of clinical laboratory experience required:
o For Histocompatability – three of the four years of experience must be related to histocompatibility/transplant testing.
o For all other sections – One of the four years of experience must be related to the testing in specified laboratory section. (i.e. Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, etc. )
· Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
