Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences ( is excited to launch a search for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure track or non-tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join our Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program. Since its establishment in 2015 and accreditation in 2018, the OTD program has enjoyed continued success each year. This position represents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join a growing program and shape its direction and development.

The successful candidate will report to the OTD Program Director/Chairperson and will be responsible for all aspects of teaching assigned courses. Specific responsibilities include the development and teaching based on content expertise, student advising and mentoring, college and community service, and scholarship at a level consistent with the appointment. The successful candidate will oversee and teach the research series courses and mentor junior OT faculty in research design and data analysis.

A doctoral degree is required (e.g., PhD, ScD, EdD, or post-professional OTD). Candidates must have a strong commitment to student success, teaching, mentoring, service, and scholarship. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis is required, along with a strong track record of scholarship and research. Applicants with proven track record of funded projects and/or research-related fellowships are highly desirable. Faculty members are encouraged to collaborate in teaching and research with other programs across the University as well as with clinical partners and other universities regionally, nationally, and internationally.

This position is available July 1, 2022. Drake offers a competitive salary, which will be commensurate on qualifications and experience, and great benefits. The appointed rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor will be based on the successful candidate’s experiences and qualifications.


  • Teach courses within the OTD program that include faculty member’s contemporary expertise

  • Prepare and present classroom materials, activities and examinations in assigned courses

  • Monitor and maintain records of student progress in assigned courses.

  • Advise and mentor pre-OT students as well as students in the professional program.

  • Develop and maintain a fundable line of scholarship.

  • Publish results of scholarship in appropriate professional journals

  • Develop and maintain professional organizational memberships

  • Participate in governance of the department, college and university.

  • Perform academic and professional service to advance the college, university and the community

  • Additional duties as assigned


    A doctoral degree is required (i.e., PhD, ScD, EdD, or post-professional OTD). Preference will be given to applicants with educational experience or a residency in occupational therapy and who demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion for work with diverse individuals. Applicants with expertise in evidence-based practice, critical analysis, public health, wellness, scholarship and/or research are encouraged to apply. Selection will depend on the receipt of recommendation confirming the candidate’s scholarly achievements and teaching abilities and/or on the candidate’s satisfactory passing of a teaching demonstration if selected for an on-campus interview.
