Duties & Responsibilities:(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
Serve as Operations support team memeber, assist other secretaries as needed.
Assists others with phones, counter traffic, and two-way radio.
Review and process Free and Reduced Meal Benefit applications.
Process Direct Certification information from Iowa Dept. of Education Child Nutrition Program database; inform families of meal benefit status.
Update and Maintain District Free and Reduced Meals database using current FNS Software (ie. Titan) – assist with maintaining enrollment data.
Conduct verification of meal benefit status as outlined in Federal Guidelines.
Answer customer questions concerning meal benefit eligibility
Generate the annual Hawk-I report
Communicate meal benefit status to families and local schools following guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.
Operate School Nutrition Accountability software and District’s Student Information System, maintain its security.
Maintain Food and Nutrition Services Employee Data Base and Job Opening Google Spreadsheet.
Process FNS job openings, transfers, and postings.
Perform general and program specific clerical functions, including typing letters and documents as needed.
Maintain calm, welcoming, professional office environment.
Ability to communicate with and relate to students, faculty, parents, colleagues, and supervisors personally, on the phone, via email and in writing.
Provide oversight and train FNS staff on meal benefit eligibility processing.
Assist with training and cashiering at sites as needed. Maintain Cashier handbook and training guide.
Assist with State Counting and Claiming Audits.
Provide backup with deposits and petty cash handling as needed.
Utilizes Docushare and Google Docs filing system for document archives.
Processes FNS invoices as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements of Position:
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 lbs.; occasionally lifting 50 lbs.; ability to bend, squat, and kneel.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person or on telephone; ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to operate computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, scanner, and other office equipment with dexterity and in a safe, efficient manner.

Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Aptitude for working with numbers.
Communication skills to effectively deal with staff, administrators, and outside parties.
Self-motivated ability to work independently; excellent attendance desired..
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, PC applications and other specialized Food and Nutrition software.
