Job Title: Process Development Biochemist

Location: Coralville, IA

The Process Development Biochemist is responsible for the development of processes to prepare biological reagents.

• Designs and performs experimentation with assistance or as prescribed by management to improve existing or create new processes for the preparation of enzymes/proteins and associated mixtures.

• Adheres to all departmental protocols, rules, and safety regulations and understand the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and ISO 14001.

• Documents tasks and development work performed in an accurate, efficient, and appropriate manner.

• Analyzes data from various analytical instruments and biological assays.

• Determines appropriate course of action based on inputs from the developed protocols and analytical data.

• Collaborates and participates in a group setting with management and internal customers in a professional manner

• Develops improvements to existing processes to reduce cost and increase efficiency as requested by Operations.

• Presents and discusses improvements with management and internal customers

• Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensure, Certification, Registration

• B.S. in Biochemistry or Microbiology

Professional Experience

• At least 2 years’ experience in a Biochemistry or Microbiology laboratory

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Have participated in development activities in a laboratory environment

• Working knowledge of Biochemistry and Microbiology.

• Ability to present data to Management and Internal Customers verbally.
