This EHS Specialist position is part of the Environmental, Health and Safety Department located in Coralville Iowa and will be On-Site. At IDT, we are one global team. We celebrate our differences, engage in healthy debate, and are inclusive. Together, we accomplish great things.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate and conduct IDT Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System program activities such as EHS program evaluations, EHS compliance audits and corrective action plans. Monitor laws and regulations related to Environmental, Health, and Safety to identify program improvements or actions required to ensure Site compliance.

  • Participate in the investigation of EHS accidents and / or incidents (e.g., injuries, or hazardous material spills). Support Site EHS programs such as Emergency Action Plan, Spill Response, Risk Assessment, Injury & Illness Reporting, Hazard Communication, Contractor Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Flammable Liquid Handling & Storage, etc., to reduce risks and company costs.

  • Coordinate environmental reviews of Site Management of Change (MOC) requests to ensure compliance with Site environmental programs (e.g., CAA, RCRA, Stormwater, SPCC). Identify impacts and / or improvements required to existing Site environmental controls. Support Site Environmental Management System by conducting environmental compliance reviews and inspections.

  • Maintain Site Master Inventory List for Environmental Impacts / Aspects and coordinate annual reviews with Site operations team to drive continuous improvement in Site environmental performance and sustainability. Liaison with Site operations team to plan air emissions controls and reduction strategies to meet EHS performance objectives.

  • Facilitate the preparation and reporting of EHS metrics and other performance metrics. Support Site documentation and data collection / recordkeeping for recurring air permitting conditions and ensure timely reporting of potential compliance risks or improvements to Site operations leadership.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, synthesis, and interpret data.

  • Ability to think critically and simplify complex issues to drive to root causes of injuries and incidents.

  • Adapt to change, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with teams and departments across the organization.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Associated Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and /or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).

  • 2+ years of related experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • EHS experience in a chemical handling/manufacturing environment.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
