MILESTONES AREA AGENCY ON AGING Nutrition Center Manager II - Burlington, IA in Centerville, Iowa

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Nutrition Center Manager II is generally assigned for overall coordination and distribution of meals and other nutrition services from: a) a non-high rise (rural or urban), cooking or non-cooking nutrition center serving both congregate and home delivered meals requiring delivery drivers for established route(s) or, b) a non-high rise nutrition center program serving from bulk with a large volume of congregate meals only and requiring daily volunteers to operate or c) a home delivery meal program only, requiring delivery drivers for established routes. Management is done effectively so that seniors benefit from the meals, activities, and the social contact available to them in a meal site setting. This may include supervision of staff and/or volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  1. Responsible for training, scheduling, and supervision of assigned staff as a representative of Milestones. May be asked to assist in the hiring process.

``` 2. Maintains a current and accessible Hazard Chemical book, policies and procedures manual, emergency plans, and can execute action in case of emergencies.

``` 3. Determines eligibility of each meal participant before service is provided by fully completing an intake form and updating the intake at least annually. If applicable, will arrange for timely and regular home visits to determine HDM eligibility, per protocol.

``` 4. Accurately records meal reservations and cancellations to minimize food waste. Orders the number of meals reserved and documents each meal served as a congregate or home delivered meal (regardless if frozen, cold, hot, emergency, etc.). In consultation with other appropriate staff, determines and orders necessary quantities of miscellaneous food items and supplies.

``` 5. Serves up congregate and/or home delivered meals from bulk food containers (or in accordance to meal delivery system established).

``` 6. Ensures food safety and sanitation standards are known and practiced in all procedures.

``` 7. May, in the absence of kitchen staff, be asked to assist with food preparation.

``` 8. Accurately completes and submits all daily, weekly, and /or monthly paperwork timely.

``` 9. Understands contribution-based services and accounts for all monies received; making sure all home delivered, congregate and private pay monies are separate, deposits prepared and made per protocol.

``` 10. Identifies appropriate roles for volunteers, then recruits, trains, and supervises them in the performance of their designated tasks.

``` 11. Coordinates home delivery routes and scheduling for efficiency, as applicable.

``` 12. Delivers meals or transports meals from cooking site to serving site, as applicable.

``` 13. Becomes knowledgeable of Milestones program to provide basic information, assistance, and referrals.

``` 14. Promotes nutrition center(s), by outreaching and planning approved activities of senior interest that encourages participation. This includes required Nutrition Education presentations (topics and materials provided) at least once monthly, daily announcements, reading next days menu, scheduling health promotion events/topics, and providing current Milestones program information. This may include working with the Communication Manager and/or the Health Promotion Director, as directed.

``` 15. Promptly reports problem situations or concerns regarding the nutrition center, meals, participants, staff or volunteers to the supervisor.
