130 miles east of Des Moines, and 230 miles west of Chicago, Cedar Rapids is a city in eastern Iowa. The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art includes many works by native Iowan painter Grant Wood. This position is assigned to an individual to manage engineering personnel as part of the Technical Support Team (TST) reporting to the Evergreen Engineering Director. The goal of the TST is to provide improved levels of customer support and satisfaction while meeting company objectives. The TST Engineering Manager is to provide support and guidance to the Engineering personnel in the TST department. The individual is to be trained and knowledgeable on the Evergreen gable top machines.

Key Challenges:

  • The external environment, including technology, competition, markets.

  • Acquire training on higher technology CAD drafting and Engineering systems to effectively and efficiently complete the release of machine kits.

  • Acquire training required to inspire and lead Engineering personnel in completion of the TST team.

  • Acquire the training to demonstrate competencies necessary to be knowledgeable specialist on all aspects of the higher technology filling equipment.

  • Acquire the skill sets to operate and communicate with personal computers.

  • The internal environment, including interaction with others, (both inside and outside the company) policies/practices

  • Ability to function in concert with the business strategies and is cooperative in achieving the goals and objectives of the business.

  • Ability to meet the challenges and maintain awareness of issues that affect the customers and to carry out assignments to ensure customer satisfaction while adhering to the policies and procedures of the company.

  • The ability to be mindful of controlling emotions and personal attitudes while dealing with issues and concerns. The individual should maintain presence of mind to obtain facts/data and analyze to make the best evaluation and decisions.

  • The TST Engineering Manager positions is critical to the business in order to maintain customer satisfaction in support of the equipment in the customer’s facilities.

  • The TST Engineering Manager is required to travel to the customer’s plant to observe or assist in correcting machine issues.

  • Technical knowledge is required to perform the jobs challenges and requires more skill of the higher technical level in order to effectively respond to customer machine problems.

  • Ability to use a laptop for email communication as well as completion of weekly required paperwork.

  • Ability to learn and train on new models.

  • Ability to provide training to new and current employees.


  • 4-year degreed Engineer. Preferably in Electrical (BSEE). Will consider mechanical or chemical.

  • Must possess strong skills and knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatics.

  • Must possess strong technical background and good working knowledge of gable filling machines in the dairy/juice industry.

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Fluent in English both written and spoked.

  • Ability to interface and use teamwork with internal and external associated and customers in all geographical parts of the world.

  • Ability to travel to customer locations and assist with customer needs.

  • Ability to travel 25%

  • Ability to be a self-started that is capable of performing the job with little or no direct management supervision.

  • Possess a passport for possible international travel or the ability to obtain one within the first year of hire.
