Title: Environmental, Health, Safety Representative
Location: Cedar River Mill, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Reports to: Safety and Health Manager
Pay Rate :
$51,000- $68,000
Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.
Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.
PURPOSE
The EHS Representative will support and promote environmental, health and safety, day to day operations. The individual must support and exemplify the vision and organizational values of International Paper and the Cedar River Mill.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, and based on changing business needs of the company.
Support mill EHS programs and policies, including LIFE initiatives, safety teams, and contractor safety initiatives.
Conduct annual hearing tests (CAOHC Certification)
Assist in industrial hygiene tests, confined space monitor care, and environmental tests.
Provide support to security personnel, such as mill key organization and ID Client Security Database.
Provide support to team members in ensuring adequate supply of lock out lockout tags.
Support Safety Audits (KES, VPP, EHS), and Housekeeping Audits.
Support the Chemical Management Team.
File and organize the SDS’s using the MSDSonline Management System.
Support mill safety efforts that include facilitating EHS training, emergency drills/training, contractor orientation, new team member orientation, learning events, the Promise process and other safety teams.
MyLearning assistance, including course development and completion tracking.
Administrative responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, coordinating annual review of forms, documents and standard operating procedures, prescription and sealed eyewear program, leading indicator tracking, catering, ordering of safety supplies, maintaining safety tracking spreadsheets.
Maintain and develop team relationships.
Develop, maintain, and use reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
Understand and meet internal and external customer requirements.
Assist other team members in the mill as necessary to improve process reliability and maintain a customer and quality-focused organization.
Maintain Maintenance Task Tracker and IPS database.
Update records and assist with certification of First Aid team members.
Provide support and follow up on safety investigations, incidents, etc.
Fullfill area specific 5S expectations (5 Minute 5S Checklists, Replenishment of tools and supplies, 5S Audits,etc.)
Maintain emergency response equipment (AES, First Aid cabinets, spill kits, etc.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Able to work in manufacturing environment (heat, noise, climbing, stairs, etc.)
Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
Occasional standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.
Constant sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
Able to support on call rotation.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum
Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent environment preferred.
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required.
Demonstrated ability to use Windows based software programs such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint or comparable software program.
Excellent verbal, written, and people skills are required.
