JRC is currently seeking an Engineering Technician. This position will have primary responsibility for operating and maintaining US Navy Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) Strategic Weapon System (SWS) equipment. This position will work closely with US Navy government personnel at the SWS Ashore Test Facility. This position reports to the JRC Cape Canaveral Operations Manager and requires a current SECRET security clearance from the DoD.

Job Purpose :
SWS Ashore Safety
This position will monitor site activities and coordinate mitigations to maintain occupational safety in support of SP2012. Strong familiarity and working relationships with SWS Ashore government employees and subcontractor teams, US Air Force (USAF) 45th Space Wing, Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU), and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) contractors.
Key Duties :
Monitor construction activities to maintain occupational safety. Conduct routine site walkthroughs and observe major evolutions throughout construction and procedures as we move into operations.
Maintain working relationships and clear lines of communication with contractor superintendents and USAF and NOTU, allowing for efficient and effective mitigation to any potential safety hazards.
Serve as the Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste Coordinator. Tasks include: review material documentation and gain approval from US Air Force, provide and maintain storage, track material usage, provide an accumulation area and processing for any hazardous waste, as well as all subsequent tasks required to achieve these higher objectives.
Coordinate with USAF and onsite personnel to ensure environmental/wildlife protection requirements are enforced and ensure proper procedure in contact with environment/wildlife (e.g., oil spill or gopher tortoise).
Trainer: Draft training material and provide training for various personal protective equipment and procedures, site orientation for new personnel, Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste Training, Fall Prevention, and Confined Space.

Construction site orientation
Inspect worksites and review working conditions for personal safety. Documents reports of occurrences and record statistical information
Provides direct support to the SWS Ashore Construction Manager and acts as the Construction Manager in his absence.
SWS Ashore Logistics provides direct support to the SWS Ashore Logistics lead and maintains storage facilities.
General Skills/Attributes :
Familiarity with US Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Program
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
A minimum of 5-10 years experience in a related field
Must have a government security clearance at the SECRET level
