Status: Part-time No Benefits, 16 hours/week Shift: Evenings Scheduled Days: Monday and Thursday Shift Time Schedule: 3pm-11pm POSITION SUMMARY: Interviews incoming patient or representative and enters accurate and current information required for admission into computer. Also responsible for directing incoming telephone calls by performing the required duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure and a pleasant and courteous attitude. * Computer literacy attainable * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to work with graphs. * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Regular and punctual attendance. * Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing care appropriate to the ages of the patients served within the department. * Maintains performance in compliance with State and Federal laws, consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics. * Wears ID at all times while on duty. * Interviews patient or representative to obtain complete and accurate information and enters the information into the computer. Routes printed copy to designated department and obtains appropriate signatures for medical and financial documents to protect hospital's interests. * Explains hospitals regulations such as visiting hours. * Overhead page authorized personnel over PA system in accordance with policy with regard to the time of day, whether or not the person is a physician, employee or guest. * Maintains a positive and cooperative attitude with patients, medical staff and hospital staff. * Complies with the hospital's general policies and procedures, safety and disaster plans. * Maintains strict confidentiality of every patient, medical record or report, and protects the confidentiality and dignity of all patients by actions and words. * Completes patient insurance verification on-line. * Consistently provide excellent guest relation's service to all patients, employees and visitors. * Answers switchboard, 911 telephone line and Alcoholics Anonymous line in a timely manner, answer questions of caller according to hospital policy and direct calls to the appropriate department. * Dispatches ambulance service calls and monitors the calls on a two way radio. Notifies Emergency room of incoming patients. * Monitors security camera and alarm systems and notifies appropriate personnel when problems arise. * Announces codes according to department policy. * Participates in department staff meetings and hospital wide in-service programs as required and actively supports and participates in the continuous quality improvement efforts.
