Job Description:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology at Iowa State University seeks applicants for a Research Scientist I to assist with various ongoing research projects pertaining to water quality. Primary responsibilities of this position include collection of samples and field data, installation and maintenance of field equipment, preparation and analysis of water samples, and reporting field and laboratory results. This is an entry-level position that requires some professional and technical skills while working under general supervision. The successful applicant should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be capable of overseeing undergraduate technicians working in the laboratory and field. Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this position. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training specific to the duties of the position and to broaden their understanding of the projects supported by the laboratory.

Example of Duties
Assist with the collection of samples and field data at wetland, stream, and lake research sites.
Assist in the installation and maintenance of water quality monitoring and sampling equipment.
Assist in the day-to-day operations of a water quality laboratory.
Prepare and analyze water samples for water quality related parameters.
This is a term position with possibility of renewal.
