The Division of Materials Science and Engineering at the Ames National Laboratory, is seeking one qualified Postdoctoral Research associate to perform research in the area of strongly correlated quantum materials simulations using classical and quantum computing approaches. The work will be performed as part of a research team led by Y. Yao. This position is jointly funded by DOE-sponsored Center for Computational Design of Functional Strongly Correlated Materials and Theoretical Spectroscopy, and Co-design center for Quantum Advantage.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will be able to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences. The individual must be able to work effectively with team members.
(To meet the requirements of the Department of Energy's COVID-19 Workplace Safety and Reentry Framework, Ames Laboratory is implementing a vaccine attestation program when the COVID-19 community level is medium or high, as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.
Ph. D. in condensed matter physics, computational physics, materials science, quantum chemistry or related areas.
Experience in condensed matter theory of correlated materials.
Knowledge of analytical and/or computational many-body techniques suitable for correlated materials, such as quantum embedding approaches represented by DMFT.
Research experience in the field of strongly correlated materials.
Programming experience in Python, Fortran90+, C/C++ and/or any of the quantum programming languages.
