Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

A post-doctorate position is being sought to support a polymer to polyelectrolyte membrane effort at Iowa State University. The ideal candidate will be able to independently synthesis and characterize organic to hybrid organic-inorganic materials. The role will emphasize discovering structure-property-function relationships, with an expectation to present and publish all data. The position will offer considerable intellectual and professional growth, including an opportunity to mentor students and assist in writing proposals

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD or Doctoral Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate in Material Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

    • Demonstrated laboratory experience in the synthesis and characterization of organic materials is required.

    • The candidate will have experience with NMR, WAXS, SAXS, TEM, FTIR, Transport (gas, liquid, ions), EIS, DSC, DMTA, AFM, GPC, and TGA.

    • The candidate must have demonstrated strong communication and writing skills, as evidenced by peer-reviewed papers and oral presentations at professional society meetings. The successful applicant must work both in a team environment, independently, and effectively balance parallel work on multiple projects.
