  • Position Summary

  • Under the direction and delegation of the Manager, Dietetic Services, oversees the functions of Dietetic Services staff on a specific shift(s) in the performance of their duties in maintaining the dietary spaces including the servery, kitchen, dish room, special functions areas and food preparation areas in a clean, sanitary, attractive and orderly condition. Exhibits and promotes a cooperative team spirit. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

  • Coordinates the daily activities of the Dietetic Services Staff. Ensures work is done correctly and as scheduled by the Dietetic Services Management.

  • Monitors work quality daily through the use of direct visual observance to ensure assigned staff meets hospital, as well as governmental and regulatory agency standards.

  • Provides feedback to the Dietetic Services managers with regard to the performance of FSW for inclusion on performance appraisals.

  • Initiates corrective action in consult with/and at the direction of the Dietetic Services Managers and/or Department Director when immediate action is required.

  • Coordinates the accomplishment all meal services for patients, staff and visitors.

  • Provides hands-on training to new staff members

  • Monitors use of supplies and equipment, ensuring cost effective procedures and practices are employed.

  • Notify secretary or manager for ordering supplies and parts as needed.

  • Performs food preparation, serving patients, catering events or cleaning tasks as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.

  • Actively participates in medical center and departmental teams promoting continuous quality improvement and patient satisfaction.

  • Identifies mechanical or structural deficiencies in assigned areas and reports them to the managers or reports problems immediately to facilities department at extension 3535.

  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

  • ServSafe Certification after 6 months of employment in position.

  • Organizational Requirements:

  • De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire

  • All clinical night staff routinely working between the hours of 2300-0700 that work in Acute Rehab, Med Tele, Med Surg, Birthways, PEDS, NICU, and Oncology AND all clinical staff that work in Nursing Support Team, Behavioral Health, ED, ICCU, and House Managers will be required to take the combative patient response team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Individuals less than 18 years old are excluded.

  • Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 plus years of foodservice related experience or customer service experience.

  • Highschool diploma or GED

  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of foodservice activities or customer service experience; safety and regulatory standards; supervisory principles and techniques.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Ability to use telephone, PC and pager system.

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions; ability to maintain simple records.

  • Ability to exhibit and promote a cooperative team spirit.

  • Experienced in and able to interact with numerous and diverse customers.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving and customer service skills

  • Ability to adapt quickly to unexpected changes in circumstances.

  • Knowledge of body mechanics and universal/safety precautions

  • Adherence to Departmental and Hospital policies and procedures

  • Position requires wearing and maintaining a uniform

  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Five years of related work experience in a health care facility is preferred
