Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Office of Biotechnology in the Office of the Vice President for Research in collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service are seeking outstanding applicants for a postdoctoral position in the Genome Informatics Facility working on joint projects with the National Animal Disease Center and will be supervised by Andrew Severin (at ISU) and Crystal Loving (at USDA). The position is expected to be filled as soon as possible with a start date of January 8th, 2024. The project involves interrogating genomes, performing gene expression analysis, and/or protein analysis of bacterial and animal derived samples to identify modes of action of animal treatment or colonization with food-borne pathogens. There will be several projects involving single-cell and single-nuclei RNA-Seq data analysis.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Bioinformatics or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unix and High-Performance Computing environments.

  • Experience with Single Cell RNA-Seq analysis.

  • Experience that demonstrates good documentation practices.
