Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa seeks applicants for a 9-month Assistant Teaching Professor with responsibilities including teaching courses, as well as coaching the ISU Intercollegiate Livestock Judging and the Meat Animal Evaluation Team. The position is a 2-year term with the option for renewal and is eligible for advancement of rank. This suc0cessful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department’s on-going emphasis in student development through classroom teaching and participation in high impact practices. Position responsibilities are approximately 80% in teaching and 20% institutional service. It is expected that responsibilities in these areas to be closely supportive of each other. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the teaching mission of the department through teaching and advising while developing, recruiting and training students to participate in a competitive judging environment. The position will require travel and frequent work during the evening and weekends.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

M.S. in animal science or related area and experience coaching a livestock judging team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Evidence of effective teaching and communication skills

  2. Experience in student advising

  3. Experience working in a team-based, collaborative environment
